Reading for pleasure
Reading for pleasure and developing a love of reading is more important for a child's cognitive development than their parent's level of education and is a more powerful factor in life achievement than socio-economic background.
We have a range of options available, through our subscriptions and tailor-made offers, to help you and your school promote a reading for pleasure culture in your school.
Let us boost your school library stock. Whether you use us for your main school library, or for classroom book corners, long-term leasing offers excellent value for money. Why buy the books when you can lease them, and get them exchanged each year?
Type of stock available
With stock including board books, picture books, first readers, chapter books, young adult fiction and an array of non-fiction titles, we can help you create a comprehensive school library with a focus on reading for pleasure and information literacy.
How to borrow leasing stock
To help keep your library current and fresh, schools can exchange a proportion of their book stock up to 3 times a year. You can either send your requirements to us and we will select the books for you and deliver to the school, or you can arrange to visit the showroom yourself to pick your own books and take them away on the day. You can even bring up to 4 students with you so they can select books for themselves and their classmates.
Long-term leasing stock is part of all primary, secondary and special school subscriptions. Schools can also select long-term leasing from our 'tailor-made' service menu.
We have created a selection of literacy collections. Some collections focus on certain authors, others focus on themes. These are perfect if your class is learning about a certain author, or looking to explore a specific genre.
What a collection includes
Collections contain around 15 to 20 titles, which can be used to support independent reading or as a whole class read.
How to borrow a collection
Subscribing schools can borrow literacy collections as part of the project box loans in their subscription, or non-subscribing schools can borrow collections on an ad-hoc basis.

Every half-term, three books are published on the Fiction Express website in weekly chapters. What happens next is entirely up to the readers. Using their votes, they can decide where the plot goes next. Then the author will bring the most popular choice to life.

Every year we put together boxes containing the shortlisted titles for the awards, which are loaned to schools to support the award shadowing schemes.
How to borrow a collection
These can be borrowed as part of your project loans that form part of your subscription. We will contact schools in the spring term to ascertain which schools are interested in shadowing and borrowing the collections.
