Socialising and making friends
Loneliness can sometimes be a symptom of living on your own, or if you are caring for somebody where the demands are significant.
There are lots of services which can provide help and support, either in person or over the phone:
- Age UK befriending services - provides 1:1 support for members of the public
- Age UK telephone befriending - telephone contacts of various support groups are available
- Housing Care - a range of companionship and befriending services that can provide support including community groups
- Alzheimer's Society - Dementia Connect - advisers can support you directly by phone or face-to-face, and connect you to a range of local services
- Royal Voluntary Service - virtual groups - an online community hub designed to help people connect with others
- Northamptonshire Carers - various support groups specific to carers
- The Silver Line - a free confidential helpline providing information, friendship and advice to older people
