Would you like to be part of the volunteer army?
Community, safety and emergencies25 January 2022

If you’re good in a crisis and would like to give something back to the community, then the Northamptonshire Emergency Response Corps (NERC) would like to hear from you.
NERC reservists are called upon in times of need to assist with keeping their communities informed, distributing food and supplies and checking on the vulnerable.
This happens to support situations such as an outbreak like COVID, a severe weather event, a disruption in energy supply or any other man-made or natural emergency.
NERC brings together voluntary organisations and recruits individual volunteers from across the county to help out where they can.
The Covid-19 pandemic is an example where Northamptonshire stepped up to the challenge and the countless volunteers who put their hands up to help others played a vital role in helping others stay safe and well throughout the hardest times.
The difference NERC Reservists make is tremendous, and the experience is a hugely rewarding one. We have seen fantastic examples of people coming together and stepping up to support each other during the lockdowns, and I am confident we can continue to go from strength to strength.Luiza Morris-Warren, Chair of NERC
You don’t need any specialist skills or have to commit to any set hours to be a NERC Reservist – just a desire to help your community when the need is there.
